Martyr Jin Guanzhen’s Tomb

Martyr Jin Guanzhen’s Tomb is a cultural relic protection unit of Yongjia County and a classic red tourism attraction.

Martyr Jin Guanzhen’s Tomb is located at the southern foot of Yushan Mountain in Yantou Town. It was first built in 1973 and renovated in 1985.

The tomb faces south and has a depth of 15.8 meters and a width of 12.7 meters, covering an area of 200 square meters. There are 74 stone steps on the northern side of the hillside in front of the tomb leading up to the memorial site. At the center back of the tomb chamber stands a memorial stele, which is 7.55 meters tall. Originally, the front bluestone slab bore nine large characters inscribed by former Defense Minister Zhang Aiping that read “Martyr Jin Guanzhen Lives Forever.” In 1984, it was listed as part of the second batch of county-level cultural relic protection units.

Jin Guanzhen (1902–1930), also known as Jiaji, was a native of Yantou. He joined the Socialist Youth League in 1925 and became a member of the Communist Party the following year, serving as a key member of the Wenzhou Independent Branch. During the Northern Expedition, he was the secretary and party group secretary of the General Headquarters of the Eastern Route Army. In the autumn of 1927, he went to the Soviet Union to study at a communist university. In August 1929, he returned to China to serve as a central inspector, secretary of the South Zhejiang Special Committee, and political commissar of the 13th Red Army. On May 18, 1930, he was arrested and killed upon returning to Wenzhou.
