Shuiyan Scenic Area

Shuiyan Scenic Area is located along Zhenxi, one of the eastern tributaries of the Nanxi River, bordering Beiyandang Mountain in Yueqing to the east, and connecting to the Doumen and Beikeng scenic areas to the south and north respectively, covering a total area of 72 square kilometers.

The overall characteristics of Shuiyan Scenic Area are its peculiar peaks, mysterious caves, beautiful waters, and ancient villages. In particular, it boasts a long rural history and culture, numerous cultural relics and historic sites, well-preserved village layouts, rich stone culture, and relatively concentrated attractions.

Shuiyan is actually an administrative village under Shatou Town (formerly Huatan Township), located in the southeastern part of the former Huatan Township. It connects to Qingjiang in Yueqing to the east, with a total population of around 500 people. The village area features abundant natural landscapes, including peculiar peaks, unusual rocks, waterfalls, and secluded caves, offering a feast for the eyes.

Shuiyan Scenic Area’s signature attraction, Pineapple Rock, is still a massive boulder that seems to have come from nowhere, standing alone in the middle of the stream. The rock is 15 meters tall, with a slender base and a bulging middle. The weathered shale has peeled away to reveal flaky textures, and the top is covered with pine trees and weeds, resembling a giant pineapple. About 30 meters to the south on the riverbank, there is another rock, about 10 meters high, keeping it company.

Shuiyan Village: Located in the Huatan Community, Shatou Town, Yongjia County, Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province, Shuiyan Village lies to the southwest of the community, about 5 kilometers from the community center. It has 189 households and a population of 1,495, with a cultivated land area of 985.4 mu. The village is mainly inhabited by the Shui ethnic group, and its primary source of income is traditional agriculture and animal husbandry. Leveraging its geographical advantage along the Baman–Shuiyan–Shuili route, which connects to the Duli Highway, the village Party branch has used initiatives such as “Three Innovations and Three Strengthenings” and “Double Cultivation and Double Leading” as platforms.
