Yantou Village

Yantou Village is located on the western bank of the middle reaches of the Nanxi River, situated between Cangpo and Furong, and is 38 kilometers from Yongjia County. The village is renowned for its scientific water conservancy facilities and ingenious layout. The water conservancy project began in the Song Dynasty and was completed in the early Ming Dynasty. It channels river water into and out of the village, featuring along its course eight culverts of various sizes, two sluice gates, five artificial ponds, and more... making multiple uses of the water for irrigation, domestic use, powering water mills, and scenic enjoyment. The entire village faces east and backs west, nestled against mountains and fronted by water. Within the village, pavilions, towers, streets, residences, stone bridges, and memorial archways are laid out in an orderly fashion. With straight streets and lanes, grand three-courtyard, two-entry residences line both the front street and side alleys for easy access. Surrounded by flowing springs, the village ensures convenient water supply. Gradually, a commercial street formed along the shore of Lishui Lake, where a 300-meter-long covered corridor was built along the lakefront, furnished with benches for enjoying the view. Shops face the lake, retaining an ancient charm. The lake features pavilions with classic elegance; there is also a stone bridge specially constructed with 48 slabs of stone, symbolizing that the area was once part of the 48th district of Yongjia County during the Ming Dynasty, and boasts a uniquely elegant design.
