Located near the source of the Nanxi River and built on a ridge, the village stands above sheer cliffs, isolated from the world. It was settled during the late Ming and early Qing dynasties by the Ji family from Xianju, who moved here to escape war. It is the only settlement of the Ji surname in Yongjia County. The entire village consists of eight original stone-and-timber structures that follow the natural terrain, stretching and staggered across basins along the mountainside, featuring the architectural style of houses from the border region between Zhejiang and Fujian.
