The Yongjia County Revolutionary History Memorial Hall is a classic red tourism destination.

Yongjia County is a veteran revolutionary base county and the birthplace of the 13th Army of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army. Since the establishment of the Wenzhou Independent Branch of the Chinese Communist Party in 1924, the people of Yongjia have made important contributions under the leadership of the CCP during the New Democratic Revolution and the socialist construction. Countless revolutionary predecessors gave their precious lives for national independence, the liberation of the people, and the happiness of the masses.

The Yongjia County Revolutionary History Memorial Hall is located in Yushan Park, Shangtang Town, Yongjia County. Built in 1993, the memorial hall is a two-story building with a west-facing front and east-facing back, constructed with reinforced brick and wood. It covers an area of 1,900 square meters, with a built-up area of 860 square meters. In front of the memorial hall is a granite-paved square that can accommodate over a thousand people. Along the southern edge of the square, a monument corridor runs along the surrounding wall, and to the east stands the Revolutionary Martyrs Monument. The monument is 15.5 meters high, 3 meters wide, with a base thickness of 7.4 meters and a top thickness of 3 meters. The body of the monument is clad in polished bluish-gray granite, and the central black granite panel on the front is inscribed with “Yongjia Revolutionary Martyrs Monument,” written by General Zhang Aiping. Below this are engraved the names of 586 revolutionary martyrs from the county. The back of the monument bears the inscription of the monument’s commemorative text. The front and back of the base are bordered by landscaped greenery featuring potted plants, and the front of the base includes an 84-square-meter monument platform enclosed by bluestone railings on three sides. On the western side, there are nine stone steps on each side of the monument leading up to the memorial hall square. To the right of the memorial hall square stands a bronze bust of martyr Xie Wenjin, which is 2.3 meters high and 1.8 meters wide, mounted on a 1.2-meter-high bluestone pedestal. The memorial hall and monument are situated atop Yushan Mountain, offering a panoramic view of the county town.

Above the main entrance of the memorial hall is the name “Yongjia County Revolutionary History Memorial Hall,” inscribed by Marshal Nie Rongzhen. Upon entering the gate, there is a glass-roofed atrium that serves as the preface hall with a polished granite floor. To the left is the first exhibition hall, covering the period of the Party’s founding and the Great Revolution; the second exhibition hall covers the Agrarian Revolutionary War period; the third exhibition hall on the upper floor covers the Anti-Japanese War period; and the fourth exhibition hall covers the nationwide Liberation War period. The four exhibition halls collectively display 425 photos and charts, as well as 138 revolutionary relics, vividly reflecting the glorious revolutionary history of the people of Yongjia who fought bravely under the leadership of the CCP. The exhibition also features handwritten inscriptions by proletarian revolutionaries of the older generation such as Yang Shangkun and Xiao Jingguang. The fifth exhibition hall is the National Defense Hall, which displays images related to national defense education. The hall also houses a broadcasting room, reception room, medium-sized meeting room, offices, and staff rest areas.

The Yongjia County Revolutionary History Memorial Hall is a Zhejiang Provincial National Defense Education Base, a Wenzhou Municipal Patriotic Education Base, and a Yongjia County Cultural Relics Protection Unit.
