Former Site of the Yongjia County Committee of the Communist Party of China

The Former Site of the Yongjia County Committee of the Communist Party of China is a classic red tourism attraction.

Shicheng Village in Tengqiao Town has a long revolutionary tradition and a strong mass base. During the Liberation War, some major activities of the Yongjia County Committee of the Communist Party of China were successfully carried out here. The village was once one of the regular locations of the Yongjia County Committee.

In 1946, the Yongjia County Committee of the Communist Party of China began developing new areas in Ze Xi, Ze Lin, and Zhi Shan, carrying out revolutionary activities and expanding party organizations. To further strengthen the party and train a large number of grassroots cadres for the liberation of Wenzhou, from early November 1948 to January 28, 1949, the Yongjia County Committee used Shicheng Village as the main training site to conduct mobile party cadre training classes. On January 28, 1949, the county committee organized a diverse New Year’s Eve cultural celebration for soldiers and civilians. On February 10, a guards team military assembly was held. In mid-April, the county committee convened a historic, half-month-long expanded county committee meeting in Shicheng, attended by district committee members and army officers at the rank of platoon leader and above. On April 22, a celebration was held to mark the “Victory of Our 300,000 Troops Crossing the Yangtze River.”

The Former Site of the Yongjia County Committee of the Communist Party of China is located in Shicheng Village, Tengqiao Town, Lucheng District. Originally the ancestral home of Lin Baochang, it is a nine-room, two-story wooden structure in the traditional “bentou” building style, constructed in 1935 (the 24th year of the Republic of China). The east and west rooms served as auxiliary spaces. It covers a land area of 540 square meters, with a built-up area of 324 square meters, and faces south. In front of the building is a stone-paved road running east–west through the entire village.

In December 2008, the History Research Office of the CPC Lucheng District Committee in Wenzhou and the Tengqiao Town Party Committee designated it as a Lucheng District Party History Education Base and erected a stone monument inscribed with “Former Site of the Yongjia County Committee of the Communist Party of China,” written by Feng Zengrong.
