The Site of the Lingtou Assembly of the Kuocang Detachment is a cultural tourism attraction and a classic red tourism site.

On New Year’s Day 1949, Xinhua News Agency published Mao Zedong’s New Year’s message “Carry the Revolution Through to the End,” signaling the imminent victory of the People’s Liberation War. By then, the vast rural areas of Yongjia (Oubei) were already under the control of the Kuocang Detachment, the armed forces of the people of southern Zhejiang. From January 6 to 25, the Third Expanded Meeting of the Kuocang Central County Committee of the Chinese Communist Party was held in Lingtou Village, where directives from the Southern Zhejiang Regional Committee of the CCP regarding the establishment of the Headquarters of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Southern Zhejiang Guerrilla Column were conveyed. After the meeting, over 600 main forces of the Kuocang Detachment, including the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th Companies, and the Guard Company, successively gathered in Lingtou Village. This marked a victorious grand assembly of the guerrilla forces in the Kuocang region.

During the assembly, local party organizations, as well as farmers’ associations, women’s associations, and militia companies, enthusiastically participated in reception efforts. The residents of Lingtou Village voluntarily vacated their houses to accommodate the troops, addressing accommodation and food needs. Residents from areas such as Yueqing and Huangyan sent numerous comfort items. On the morning of January 29 (the first day of the Lunar New Year), the guerrillas held a New Year’s celebration and commendation meeting in the Pan Family Ancestral Hall, where Qiu Qinghua, Secretary of the Central County Committee, delivered a situation report. The next day, leaders of the Central County Committee and the Kuocang Detachment inspected the troops. In the following days, the guerrillas held shooting competitions, political exams, and volleyball matches during the day, and organized evening performances of plays such as “Niu Yonggui Wounded” and “Empty City Strategy,” creating an enthusiastic atmosphere. After the assembly, the various companies, filled with fighting spirit, headed to different areas to engage in battles against the Nationalist army. This assembly boosted the confidence of the residents of Lingtou Village and the surrounding areas in welcoming the liberation of the entire nation.

The Site of the Lingtou Assembly of the Kuocang Detachment is located in Lingtou Village, Lingtou Township, Yongjia County. It currently serves as the sports field of Lingtou Township Middle School. A monument commemorating the Lingtou Assembly Training Ground has been erected at the site, which is a local youth patriotic education base.
