The Former Site of the Establishment of the Southwest Zhejiang Revolutionary Committee and the Southwest Zhejiang Red Army Guerrilla Unit is a classic red tourism destination.

After the failure of the Great Revolution, members of the Wenzhou Independent Branch of the CPC shifted the focus of revolutionary work from urban to rural areas, promoting the development of the peasant movement in suburban and Xinanxi regions. Peasant associations were widely established, and peasant armed forces were formed, frequently launching –. In November 1929, 4,000 peasants from 84 villages in the Xinei and Zhongshan districts staged a major –. The Yongjia County Central Committee of the CPC decided to seize the momentum by developing guerrilla units, organizing the Red Army openly, overthrowing the rule of the gentry and landlord class, and proposed: “A revolutionary committee must be established quickly to serve as the guiding body.”

On November 19, 1929, the Southwest Zhejiang Revolutionary Committee and the Southwest Zhejiang Red Army Guerrilla Unit were established at the Jin Ancestral Hall in Bailong Wushi, Xixia, Xianxia District, Yongjia. The Southwest Zhejiang Revolutionary Committee was the first Soviet regime in the region, with Li Zhensheng and Lei Gaosheng as key leaders. The Southwest Zhejiang Red Army Guerrilla Unit was formed by integrating armed peasant forces from various parts of Xinanxi, comprising 4 squadrons totaling 360 personnel, under the leadership of Lei Gaosheng. It was the first Red Army guerrilla unit in the region and laid the foundation for the later establishment of the Southwest Zhejiang Guerrilla Command and the 13th Red Army.

The Former Site of the Establishment of the Southwest Zhejiang Revolutionary Committee and the Southwest Zhejiang Red Army Guerrilla Unit is located at the Jin Ancestral Hall in Xixia Village, Xianxia Township, Yongjia County. Built in the 7th year of the Republic of China (1918), it faces south, covers an area of 900 square meters, has a square layout, and can accommodate over 1,000 people.

The Former Site of the Establishment of the Southwest Zhejiang Revolutionary Committee and the Southwest Zhejiang Red Army Guerrilla Unit is a cultural heritage site protected by Yongjia County and serves as a patriotic education base in the county.
