Stream Gate Archway

The Stream Gate Archway is a cultural relic protection unit of Yongjia County.

The Stream Gate Archway is located in Cangpo Village, Yantou Town, Yongjia County. It was first built during the Longxing era of the Song Dynasty (1163–1164). This wooden structure spans three bays and covers an area of 34 square meters. The central bay features two golden columns, while the side bays each have two corner columns. The column-top bracket sets consist of eleven-step four-bracket double downward-curved ang, supporting the eave purlin and eave bracket. The tie beams between the central and side bays are equipped with four sets of bracket arms, designed in a nine-step four-bracket double downward-curved ang style. The roof is a double-eave hanging gable roof, with the central bay’s roof higher than the side bays, forming a triple-gable layout. The roof is covered with small blue tiles, featuring hooked drip tiles along the edges and ornamental ridges adorned with dragon-phoenix and hanging beast ornaments at both ends. The structure is largely well-preserved.

Cangpo Village: Located on the west side of Xianqing Highway, north of Yantou Town, Cangpo Village is a settlement primarily inhabited by the Li clan. The village covers an area of 146 mu and has 755 households. Established in 955 AD, Cangpo Village was designated as a Zhejiang Provincial Historical and Cultural Reserve in 1991. In the second year of the Xiande era of the Later Zhou Dynasty (955), the founding ancestor migrated from Changxi in Fujian to Lingshan in Yongjia to avoid unrest in Fujian. He became a son-in-law of the Zhou family and later moved about one kilometer east to establish the current village site.

Originally named Cangdun, the village was renamed Cangpo to avoid the naming taboo of Emperor Guangzong of Song (Zhao Dun).
