With nine parts mountain, half part water, and half part farmland, it has a forest coverage rate of 85.1%, forested land covering 172,000 mu, and cultivated land of 8,287 mu. Adjacent to Jiangwan Town in Wuyuan, Jiangxi, it is one of the key windows for Zhejiang-Jiangxi inter-provincial collaboration. The scenic area boasts picturesque landscapes and is a place of remarkable cultural heritage, making it a representative rural tourism destination in western Zhejiang. Currently, two well-developed feature areas have been established: Taihuishan, known as the "Potala Palace of the South," and the ancient village of Gaotiankeng. It is recognized as a red revolutionary site, a feng shui treasure, and a wellness destination in western Zhejiang. In recent years, Colorful Changhong has become a "trigger point" for rural tourism in the region and one of the key rural tourism destinations in western Zhejiang and even the Yangtze River Delta. Changhong was an important component of the Min-Zhe (Wan) Gan Revolutionary Base Area, founded by communists such as Fang Zhimin, Huang Dao, and Shao Shiping. With its nine parts mountain, half part water, and half part farmland, the area has a forest coverage rate of 85.1%, forested land of 172,000 mu, and cultivated land of 8,287 mu. The area is rich in hydraulic resources, with the Bijihe Reservoir being the third largest in Kaihua. Its distinctive rural scenery makes Changhong a shining gem in the Eastern Park of China. It is also recognized as a sketching and creative base for the China Academy of Art, a photography creation base for Quzhou City, and a demonstration zone for rural leisure tourism in Kaihua.

Colorful Changhong is a beautiful countryside where “you can see the mountains, view the waters, and remember the nostalgia.” Taihuishan, known as the “Potala Palace of the South,” features terraced fields that cascade like flowing clouds, presenting a grand and majestic spectacle. Each season offers photogenic views: golden rapeseed flower carpets in spring, colorful terraces in summer, golden rice waves in autumn, and frost-covered landscapes in winter. Gaotiankeng, a high-altitude ancient village and one of the best-preserved pristine ancient villages in Zhejiang, also houses an excellent dark sky park for stargazing photography. Changhong is a feng shui treasure, home to the ancestral tomb of the Qian King, the birthplace of a top imperial scholar, and the cradle of the Fan family culture. It is also a wellness destination, with beautiful rivers and mountains, crystal-clear waters, lush green hills, and serene surroundings.

Changhong is a red revolutionary site. The former site of the Min-Zhe-Gan Provincial Committee of the Chinese Communist Party was established by veterans of the revolution such as Fang Zhimin and Guan Ying. It is an important part of the Min-Zhe (Wan) Gan Revolutionary Base Area founded by communists like Fang Zhimin, Huang Dao, and Shao Shiping. In May 1935, Guan Ying led his troops to establish the first central county committee of the Min-Zhe-Gan Provincial Committee in western Zhejiang — the Kai-Wu-Xiu Central County Committee at Kukeng. In July, a secret office of the Min-Zhe-Gan Provincial Committee was set up, making the area the revolutionary hub of the Zhejiang-Anhui border region. Seven central district committees and 107 party branches, along with 31 youth league branches, were subsequently established. The KMT army launched multiple “anti-bandit” campaigns against the Red Army in Kukeng, engaging in nine battles of varying scales, during which over 50 local Red Army soldiers from Changhong sacrificed their lives. Today, the area hosts the Memorial Hall of the Min-Zhe-Gan Provincial Committee of the CCP, a Red Square, the Red Army Martyrs Memorial Hall, and the Red Army Uniform Factory. It is listed as a National Classic Red Tourism Attraction and serves as the eighth batch of Patriotic Education Bases in Zhejiang Province, receiving over 40,000 visitors annually. Kukeng has become the brightest red revolutionary destination in western Zhejiang.
