Fang Yongtong Ancestral Hall

Fang Yongtong Ancestral Hall is a cultural relic protection unit of Kaihua County.

Fang Yongtong Ancestral Hall, located in Tangtou Village, Suzhuang Town, has a history of 1,200 years. The overall layout of the ancestral hall is a vertical rectangle, facing east. From east to west, the structure consists of three sections in sequence: a stage, a main hall, and an inner chamber. Courtyards are situated between the halls, with corridors on both sides of the courtyards, covering a total area of approximately 790 square meters. The stage covers an area of 83 square meters. Its central and side bays feature a nine-rafter lifted-beam structure, while the gable walls use a nine-rafter post-and-lintel system. The front eave columns are carved with horse-legged brackets depicting figures and flowers. The upper eaves are adorned with bracket sets, and the stage floor is laid with wooden boards. It uses yin-yang tiles with decorative tile ends and patterned embellishments. The corridors on both sides of the courtyard employ a five-rafter post-and-lintel system, with horse-legged brackets on the eave columns.

This building was designated as a cultural relic protection unit at the county level of Kaihua in 1994. Yongtong Ancestral Hall was constructed under the leadership of Fang Yongtong, the 107th-generation descendant of the Fang family. It was originally used for worshipping Fang Yuanyue, an esteemed ancestor of the Fang family. Fang Yuanyue was known for his filial piety, respect for elders, love for children, harmony with neighbors, willingness to help others, and aid to disaster victims. Generations of the clan have held worship ceremonies here and established a private school to promote Confucian culture.

Tangtou Village: Tangtou Village has a total population of 1,163 people, 326 farming households, a total land area of 17,392 mu, arable land area of 838 mu, and forested land area of 13,790 mu.
