Xiashan Yongxi Hall

Xiashan Yongxi Hall is a cultural relic protection unit of Zhejiang Province.

Xiashan Yongxi Hall is situated in the northeast of Xiashan Second Village, Majin Town, Kaihua County. It faces southeast and consists of three sections, featuring a convex-shaped layout with an area of about 660 square meters. It serves as the ancestral hall of the Zheng family. The first section is a stage with a flush gable roof, double eaves, and upturned corners; the middle columns of the main bay have bracket arms (dougong) for support. The second section is a hall, five bays wide with a total span of 18.3 meters. The central bay features a five-rafter lifting-beam structure with two front steps, bracket arms on the eave columns, and brackets at both ends of the curved beams. The main bay employs a reduced-column construction method, with finely carved curved and moon beams featuring patterns of dragons, phoenixes, and narrative scenes. Between the first and second sections is a courtyard, flanked by corridors below and side rooms above. The third section is three bays wide, spanning 11.30 meters in total, and was rebuilt in 1928. The entire structure has brick walls, stone column bases in the shapes of inverted basins, drums, and squares, and a clay floor.

This building features a rational layout and robust materials, reflecting not only the architectural style of the time but also showcasing certain artistic characteristics, possessing significant historical and cultural value.

Majin Town: A town under the jurisdiction of Kaihua County. Established as Majin Township in 1950, converted to a commune in 1958, reinstated as a township in 1983, and upgraded to a town in 1985. Located in the northern part of the county, on the east bank of Majin Stream, it is 17.6 kilometers from the county center. Covering an area of 94 square kilometers with a population of 22,000, it is traversed by National Highway 205 and the Quzhou–Chun’an Road.
