Carp Mountain Ruins

The Carp Mountain Ruins are a cultural heritage protection site of Kaihua County.

The Carp Mountain Ruins are located 200 meters south of Chihui Village, Chihui Town, dating from the Neolithic Age to the Warring States Period. They are among the first batch of county-level cultural heritage protection sites. As a human habitation site, the ruins cover a total area of approximately 1,800 square meters. Discovered in August 1984, the site has been severely damaged. Excavated artifacts include red (and gray) pottery with fine clay, as well as sand-tempered pottery. The stamped pottery features decorative patterns such as woven designs, meander patterns, string patterns, zigzag patterns, and “rice character” motifs. Stone tools such as knives, arrowheads, segmented adzes, net sinkers, and pottery net sinkers were also found. Specimens are preserved at the county cultural relics management office.

Chihui Town: A town under the jurisdiction of Kaihua County. Established as Lukou Township in 1950, reorganized into Chihui Commune in 1958, changed to Batou Township in 1983, upgraded to a town in 1985, and renamed Chihui Town in 1992. It is located in the southwestern part of the county on the west bank of the Chihui Stream, 12.5 kilometers from the county seat. The town covers an area of 85.2 square kilometers and has a population of 16,000. The Xingkou–Suzhuang Highway passes through the town.
