Jixian Ancestral Hall

Jixian Ancestral Hall is a cultural heritage protection unit of Kaihua County.

Jixian Ancestral Hall is located in Xiawu Village, Changhong Township, built during the Republican era, and is among the fifth batch of county-level cultural heritage protection units. It faces east and has three courtyards in sequence: a stage, a main hall, and a rear hall, covering an area of approximately 340 square meters. The first courtyard houses the stage, which features reduced-column construction in the front eaves and carved figures on the brackets. The wings on both sides of the courtyard between the first and second courtyards have upper floors. The second courtyard is the main hall, which is three bays wide, with a total width of 14.45 meters. The central bay has a five-rafter lifted-beam structure, with double steps in the front and single steps in the back, and the brackets are decorated with patterns. Beneath the ridge purlin column, there is a petal-shaped flat plate bracket. The third courtyard is the rear hall, where the altar frame is higher than the beam frame of the second courtyard. The roof is of the flush-gable style, with yin-yang tiles and drip tiles. The gate is in the form of a five-bay, four-pillar, three-door, five-story memorial archway, with two small arched side doors on each side. The main gate frame is built from bluestone slabs, and the entire building has brick walls and a rammed earth floor. The ancestral hall gate faces the river and the road, while the other three sides are surrounded by residential houses. According to the 1921 edition of the Yu Family Genealogy: In the early years of the Chongzhen Emperor of the Ming Dynasty, three brothers — Yu Chengxu, Chengkui, and Chengyun — moved here from Bijia in their native township. By the end of the Qing Dynasty, the Yu family took the lead in jointly building this hall for the worship of all surnames in the village, hence the name "Jixian" (Gathering of the Virtuous).

Established as Hongqiao Township in 1950, became the Hongqiao Management Area of Changhong Commune in 1958, officially became a commune in 1961, and was restructured as a township in 1983.
