Taoyuan Qili Scenic Area

Taoyuan Qili Scenic Area is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

Taoyuan Qili Scenic Area is located in the northwest of Kecheng District, 15 kilometers from downtown Quzhou. The 20-minute drive falls within the golden zone for suburban rural leisure tourism. The under-construction Hang-Xin-Jing Expressway runs through the area, and once it opens to traffic in 2016, the scenic area will be within a one-hour drive of well-known attractions such as Qiandao Lake, Kaihua Root Carving Garden, Huangshan Mountain, and Jianglang Mountain, making it highly convenient for tourism and transportation.

The scenic area boasts outstanding natural ecological conditions, with a forest coverage rate of 98%. Plant communities such as poplar and coptis grow here, along with dense populations of rare tree species like yew, torreya, and ginkgo. There are tens of thousands of mu of bamboo forests swaying in the breeze, creating a refreshing atmosphere. The peak negative ion concentration in the air reaches 80,000/cm³, offering significant health and wellness benefits. The area features 15 peaks over 1,000 meters in elevation, with an average altitude of 650 meters. The summer average temperature is 5–10°C lower than that of the urban area, giving it great value for summer retreats and leisure.

The scenic area consists of various zones including a canyon rafting area, Qili antique exploration area, eco-experience area, farming and literacy culture area, bamboo sea sightseeing area, and fruit and vegetable picking area. It is home to over 30 attractions such as Xiangxi Rafting, the Sacred Land of Three Immortals, Farming and Literacy Heritage, Triple-Step Dragon Pools, Forest Oxygen Bar, Bamboo Sea Greenway, Stone Peak Summit Quest, and Fruit and Vegetable Corridor. The scenic area combines leisure, entertainment, summer retreat, and wellness, and is the largest national AAAA-level rural leisure tourism destination in Zhejiang Province.

The cool and pleasant climate, lush vegetation, white-walled black-tiled farmhouses, and flowing streams in the scenic area highlight its distinctive features of “microclimate, pristine ecology, farmhouse stays, and high-mountain cuisine.” Farmhouse operations are well-managed and enjoy an outstanding reputation in the market. Currently, there are 99 farmhouse operators offering 2,000 beds. In 2013, the area received 520,000 visitors, generating operating revenue of 27 million yuan, with over 250,000 of those visitors coming from outside the region, including Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Jinhua.
