The Juhua Carbide Industrial Site

The Juhua Carbide Industrial Site is a protected cultural heritage site under Zhejiang Province.

The Juhua Carbide Industrial Site is located in Quhua Subdistrict, Kecheng District, Quzhou City, dating back to the People's Republic of China era.

The Juhua Carbide Industrial heritage is among the most typical examples of industrial legacy and represents modern industrial heritage in Quzhou. In recent years, while achieving new economic success, Juhua has also made active contributions to building Quzhou as a culturally strong city. In June 2014, the Juhua Carbide Industrial heritage was designated by the Quzhou Municipal Government as part of the fourth batch of municipal-level cultural heritage sites, and last year it was nominated for the seventh batch of provincial-level cultural heritage sites. This fully reflects the unique value of the Juhua Carbide Industrial heritage as the only well-preserved early open-type carbide furnace remaining in China.

Since 1958, Juhua has established a series of production facilities and developed an extensive industrial chain. Through three major phases of pioneering development, it has become the largest fluorine chemical production base in China and a ten-mile-long chemical industry city. During this process, the “Juhua Spirit” — characterized by inclusiveness, hard work, enterprise interest, people-oriented values, and keeping pace with the times — was formed. The people of Juhua continue to pass on the outstanding legacy of being “evergreen, enduring, and ever-relevant” from generation to generation.

On January 13, 2017, the People’s Government of Zhejiang Province listed it as part of the seventh batch of Zhejiang Provincial Cultural Heritage Sites.
