The Bai Tea Valley Jiulong Gorge Scenic Area is located within the Tianhuangping Scenic Spot in Anji City, Zhejiang Province. It gets its name from having the world’s only thousand-year-old white tea, and lies just 2 kilometers away from the Tianhuangping Pumped Storage Power Station—the largest of its kind in Asia. It is 70 kilometers from Hangzhou, 220 kilometers from Shanghai, and 64 kilometers from Huzhou.

As you walk into Bai Tea Valley Jiulong Gorge, a vivid scroll painting of mountains and waters unfolds before your eyes—lush peaks, green trees, steep cliffs, winding clear streams, and winding paths, all shrouded in serene tranquility as if you’ve entered a hidden paradise. Here, nine grand waterfalls rush down freely, said to be the nine dragon sons playing and frolicking in the area.

In this auspicious land, each waterfall displays its own unique charm and character: some flow gently like demure maidens, pooling into deep blue basins; others resemble the Milky Way pouring down from the sky, with cascading white silk ribbons shimmering brilliantly under the sun; still others seem to burst forth from the horizon in majestic splendor, stirring up a thousand dynamic forms among the valley’s many waterfalls. The area is covered with dense primeval forests, with rugged cliffs, twisted ancient trees, and ethereal plants untouched by worldly dust. Its pristine ecological beauty refreshes the soul and makes one forget all worldly glory and disgrace.

The landscape of Jiulong Gorge was formed during the ancient glacial period, featuring high mountains and deep valleys where sunlight rarely reaches the valley floor throughout the year. The area boasts distinctive geographical and climatic conditions, with special structures and unique landforms. In winter, rare icy landscapes naturally form, including icefalls, ice mountains, and glaciers. There are icefalls as tall as over 100 meters, stunning giant icicles, captivating ice rivers and glaciers—making it an exceptional destination for winter tourism and providing a one-of-a-kind location in North China for organizing ice sculpture and winter tourism activities.

Additionally, the scenic area has created human-made ice sculptures such as giant dragons, ice dragon pillars, and ice mountains. The current Jiulong Gorge ice sculpture and icefall viewing area mainly opens the Dragon Palace Scenic Zone, divided into three sections: The first section is primarily the ice sculpture area, featuring over 1,000 cubic meters of ice used to create sculptures such as the Laughing Buddha, ancient castles, pagoda forests, Jade Monkey Welcoming Spring, Jade Lions, Ice Dragons, and the Egyptian Pharaoh. The second section mainly consists of massive artificial ice mountains and icicles created using spraying methods. The third section features a natural icefall over 100 meters high. In winter, Jiulong Gorge is often covered in mist, forming vast seas of clouds, with beautiful rime landscapes that resemble a fairyland—a must-visit time for exploring Jiulong Gorge.
