Longqing Nunnery

Longqing Nunnery is located in Anji County, Zhejiang Province, known as the "Bamboo Capital of China." It was built during the Later Liang Dynasty of the Five Dynasties period (912 AD). Legend has it that a king of the Wuyue Kingdom once visited the site. The nunnery underwent multiple renovations and expansions during the Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties. The ruins of Longqing Nunnery feature a unique terrain known as the "Seven-Leaf Lotus Ridge," which resembles a natural lotus pedestal. It is said to be the meditation site where Guanyin Bodhisattva attained enlightenment and became a Buddha.

The area is surrounded by verdant peaks and clear springs. Nestled within the vast bamboo sea, visitors can admire the thousand-year-old nunnery, century-old giant salamanders, the refreshing beauty of the nunnery, sparse woodlands and grassy fields, the lush "Yongcui Small Cottage," idyllic countryside scenery, and the sweeping bamboo-covered hills — all competing in natural splendor and leaving a lasting impression.
