Gao Dun Village in Nanjing is one of the pilot villages of the city’s “Green Natural Village” initiative. It belongs to Yangjiang Town and is located three kilometers northwest of Gaochun County, renowned as the “Thirty Li of Lotus Fragrance” and the “Land of Fish and Rice.”

The village comprises three natural villages—seven, eight, and nine—with 11 production teams. It currently has a population of over 17,400, more than 1,000 mu of water area, and 2,000 mu of arable land. It serves as an ecological agricultural tourism destination integrating sightseeing, water recreation, fishing, hands-on farming experiences, and leisure. With adjustments to the rural industrial structure, the industrious villagers of Gao Dun, under the leadership of the village Party branch and committee, have successively developed a “Thousand-Mu Lotus Root Base,” a “Thousand-Mu Crab Base,” and an “Aquatic Vegetable Base.” The village boasts rich folk traditions, drawing large crowds every year for events such as the Dragon Boat Festival races and the lion and dragon lantern performances during the Spring Festival.　

Gao Dun began developing agricultural tourism in March 2003. It features seven main attractions: the “Thousand-Mu Lotus Root Base,” the “Thousand-Mu Crab Base,” the “Aquatic Vegetable Base,” the “Xiao Jiu Hua Guangming Temple,” the “Yangjiawan Ship Lock,” the “Farm Implements Exhibition Hall,” and the “Duck-Raising in Paddy Fields Base.” In addition, it offers self-entertainment activities such as water recreation, fishing, waterwheel operation, and crab catching. To cater to visitors interested in two-day trips, Gao Dun Village has arranged 15 homestays for agritourism, allowing guests to stay and dine with local families, experience farm life, and live like farmers for a few days.

Yangjiang Town: Yangjiang Town is the western gateway of Gaochun County in Jiangsu Province, named after the Shuiyang River that flows through it. The Jinghu Bridge spans the Guanxi River and lies adjacent to Chunxi Town. The western part of the town borders Xuancheng City and Dangtu County of Anhui Province, giving it a unique geographical advantage. Covering a total area of 125 square kilometers, Yangjiang Town has a population of over 80,000, more than 100,000 mu of arable land, and 54,600 mu of water area, making it the largest town in Gaochun. In 2002, the town achieved a gross domestic product of 460 million yuan, a 16.3% increase from the previous year; its total industrial and agricultural output value reached 976 million yuan, up 14.38% year-on-year.
