The exhibition floor was also packed, with crowds gathered around every booth and vehicle. A variety of activities enriched the experience, including the [CAIMA Caima] Cup’s First RV Times Photography Competition, offering photography enthusiasts a platform to shine; the 2018 First China Tent-Pitching Championship, the Calvin RV Global Journey 2018 China-Europe Route Launch, and other events that captured widespread interest. These engaging activities helped more consumers learn about RVs and RV lifestyles, further promoting RV culture.

New model launches steal the spotlight

As the premier RV expo of 2018 in Beijing, many manufacturers debuted new models at the event. For instance, JMC Recreational Vehicles held a new model launch ceremony, showcasing seven new vehicles that caught everyone’s eye—especially the new Transit-based RV, making its first public appearance and drawing considerable attention.

Dexing RV, Torrest, Yutong Coach·Karbonn Caravan, Caima RV, Dising, Shumiteng, Zhongyi RV, Claude RV, Yasheng, Famerry, Yate, Shunlv, Lanzhong, Sanchuang Alliance, Ailv, Jinghang, Feiyuezhe Outdoor, Mein Land New Energy, and RV Home were among the over 20 brands that chose the expo as the launchpad for their latest products.

Exciting news and non-stop giveaways

While buying vehicles is common at expos, the sheer volume of deals and non-stop signings was rare—yet it happened at the 2018 Beijing (International) RV Tourism & Culture Expo and the First Beijing Outdoor Camping Expo. Even before the opening ceremony, multiple RV dealers had already made sales, one after another, leaving sales consultants struggling to keep up.

"This RV has been sold" signs were visible everywhere on the expo floor

Such strong sales performance was largely due to the meticulous preparation by the organizing committee. In addition to pre-event promotion, they arranged the 2018 RV Times Gas Station activity on-site, offering a 100,000-yuan bonus pool for sales consultants who closed deals. Any consultant who made a sale could visit the lottery area to draw a bonus, which could be in the form of a fuel card or cash of equivalent value—greatly boosting motivation. The first day saw many prizes claimed from the bonus wall. One sales consultant from Yate RV even won second prize.

Industry development and summit discussions

A highlight of the expo, the 2018 First RV Times Summit, organized by RV Times Magazine, took place this afternoon at the Great Wall Hotel. Around 500 industry insiders and guests attended. Gui Junsong, Editor-in-Chief of China Automotive News, and Li Jian, Deputy Director of Beijing People's Broadcasting Radio, delivered opening remarks on behalf of the organizers. Key speeches were given by Li Yuansheng, Publisher of RV Times Magazine; Mei Linshen, Director of Jiangsu Gaochun International Slow City Resort Management Committee; Xiang Kechong, General Manager of JMC Recreational Vehicles; and Zhu Weidong, General Manager of SAIC MAXUS RV Technology Co., Ltd. Guest speakers such as Jiang Dacheng, Secretary-General of Taiwan Chinese Camping Association; Guan Lei, Chairman of Tujv Camping Investment Management Co., Ltd.; and Sun Ou, Assistant to the Chairman and General Manager of the Camping Development Center at Sichuan Kuaikuai 318 Motel Investment Management Co., Ltd., shared insights from the perspectives of media, government, manufacturing, industry associations, and campgrounds, analyzing their own development and offering valuable suggestions for the industry. Following the speeches, the launch of the Zhongtong Auto Aftermarket Chain & Service System products was announced, along with the signing of the first batch of partners. Han Junshan, Executive Editor-in-Chief of RV Times Magazine, unveiled the magazine’s platform. Zhu Ming, Dean of Anhui Normal University Design Research Institute, presented the “China · Yaxi RV Times Cultural Base Planning & Design,” with over ten RV companies signing letters of intent to join the upcoming “RV Times” Expo Center. Finally, a press conference was held for the Nanjing (International) RV Tourism & Culture Expo and the First Yaxi International Slow City RV Camping Conference, scheduled for April 29–May 1 in Nanjing’s Gaochun International Slow City Peach Blossom Fan Square area, where a thousand RVs are expected to gather in Yaxi.

On the 18th, aside from more on-site activities, the organizing committee has also arranged two sports events: the 2018 RV Times Basketball Friendly (Beijing Stop) and the 2018 China RVers Football Friendly (Beijing Stop), aiming to strengthen camaraderie among RV enthusiasts and showcase their vibrant competitive spirit.
