Ming Culture Village

Ming Culture Village is located at the southwestern foot of Yangshan Mountain and was built in harmony with the natural landscape surrounding the Yangshan Stele. Construction began in 2002, and it opened to the public the following year, covering a total area of 5.5 hectares. It consists of three parts: the Yangshan Stele Area, the Stele Carving Recreation Area, and the Yangshan Strange Rocks Area. The village includes buildings designed in the style of the Ming Dynasty, such as teahouses, taverns, pawnshops, pharmacies, tofu workshops, general stores, gambling houses, escort agencies, pleasure quarters, dyeing shops, Guanyin halls, stages, waterside corridors, as well as blacksmith shops, stonemason villages, ancient quarry sites, supervisors’ offices, and more. Staff members dress in various Ming Dynasty costumes according to their roles, recreating the living and working scenes of tens of thousands of laborers who quarried the stele materials, including their food, bricks, and entertainment.

The park also offers a variety of special performances daily, such as Ming Dynasty-costumed dramas, traditional acrobatics, whip acts, stilt walking, as well as water lion dances, escort carriage robberies, imperial marriage ceremonies, and stele worship rituals. These shows vividly depict the secular culture of the Ming Dynasty, making it an excellent destination that combines history, folklore, and cultural heritage.
