Jiangning Baijia Lake

Baijia Lake is the largest lake in Jiangning District, Nanjing, and the second-largest within the urban area of Nanjing after Xuanwu Lake. Located in the core area of the Jiangning Development Zone, it lies to the west of Shuanglong Avenue, north of Tianyuan Middle Road, and east of Liyuan Road, covering a water surface area of approximately 2,500 acres. Legend has it that the lake was dug during the Hongwu era of the Ming Dynasty, boasting a history of over 600 years. It earned the name "Baijia Lake" (Hundred Families Lake) because there were over a hundred households in the area at the time. There are four bridges on Baijia Lake, among which Bailong Bridge spans the center of the lake, stretching about 1,000 meters and presenting a rather magnificent sight.

Directly east of Baijia Lake lies Fenghuangtai (Phoenix Terrace), completed in 1999 as one of the landmark structures symbolizing “New Century, New Nanjing.” The surrounding Bailong Square, a free, open public space centered around this landmark, is the largest leisure plaza for residents in Nanjing. It has been rated as a “Star-Rated Leisure Plaza of Nanjing,” thus forming a new popular tourist attraction in the city. The “Baijia Moon Viewing” during full moon nights has become a new renowned scenic spot in Nanjing.

Thanks to the beautiful scenery of Baijia Lake, the tertiary service industry here has naturally formed its own ecosystem: real estate developments such as “Baijia Lake” and “Wenhuamingyuan” (Cultural Famous Garden), which take the lake view as their highlight, have become well-known and mature property projects in Nanjing. In the vicinity, there are three of the highest-end hotels in Jiangning — Lakeside Jinling Hotel, Shuixiu Yuan Grand Hotel, and Golden Century Garden Hotel. To the south of Baijia Lake, the 370-acre Phoenix Port Commercial Center and Shengtai Road Commercial Street are connected and integrated, forming the largest commercial district in Jiangning District.

Transportation: Within Nanjing City, take bus lines 192, Anlu Line, Antong Line, Donggu Line, Dongtong Line, Jiangning District Line 1, Jiangning Tourist Line 1, or Jindan Line, and get off at Baijia Lake Station.
