Former Site of the Army Artillery School

The former site of the Army Artillery School is a cultural heritage conservation unit of Jiangsu Province.

The former site of the Army Artillery School is located in the Tangshan area of Jiangning District, Nanjing, spanning from Zuochang Community in the south to Gaozhuang Community in the north, as well as within the Tangshan Community. In April 1931, the Nationalist Government in Nanjing decided to establish the "Army Artillery School." In April 1933, approval was granted to build school facilities and an artillery firing range in Tangshan. The Tangshan Artillery Firing Range was completed in June 1933 and was hailed as the "Number One Firing Range in Asia." As the first branch-specific military school of the Nationalist Government, the Army Artillery School continued to undertake military education and training tasks for a long time after the founding of the People’s Republic of China. It holds the record for the longest-operating military school site in China and trained a large number of military personnel for both the Kuomintang and Communist forces, making it of immense historical significance.

Zuochang Community: The Zuochang Community Residents' Committee was formed in August 2006 through the merger of the Central Community Residents' Committee, Zuochang Community Residents' Committee, and Ximei Village Committee. The community is located to the east of Tangshan Subdistrict, with the Residents' Committee office situated near the Ninghang Road, approximately 2 kilometers from the subdistrict office. It borders Nangxiang Village of Huangmei Town, Jurong City to the east, Luxi Village Committee to the west, the Nanjing Branch of the Artillery Academy and Fuzhuang Village Committee to the south, and Tangshan Community and Qinglin Community to the north.
