Xianhui Bridge

Xianhui Bridge is a cultural relic protection unit of Nanjing.

Xianhui Bridge is located in Houpantang Village, Shangfang Subdistrict Office. It is a stone arch bridge with a single span, measuring 20 meters in length, 5.25 meters in width, and 5.2 meters in clear span, with carved dragon heads on both sides of the arch. Constructed in the second year of the Xuantong reign (1910).

This stone arch bridge is remarkably well-preserved. As a single-span stone bridge, it spans the Zhongxin River, a tributary of the Qinhuai River. Xianhui Bridge is built from large stone slabs, featuring a dignified and classic design, with a central arch that allows boats to pass through.

On the southern side of the bridge and on either side of the arch, there are exquisitely carved stone dragon heads, which serve as drainage outlets. According to experts, these two dragon heads are very likely representations of the mythical river beast Gongfu.

Xianhui Bridge was built during the late Qing Dynasty. Such a well-preserved single-arch stone bridge from the Qing Dynasty is quite rare in the Nanjing area.
