Abing (August 17, 1893 – December 4, 1950), originally named Hua Yanjun, was a folk musician and a Taoist priest of the Zhengyi sect. He became blind due to an eye disease. He dedicated himself to the study of Taoist music, striving for perfection, and extensively incorporated melodies from folk music. Throughout his life, he composed and performed over 270 folk tunes. His father, Hua Qinghe, was the head Taoist priest at the Leizun Hall of the Sanqing Temple in Wuxi City, and was skilled in Taoist music. Abing lost his mother at the age of three and was raised by his paternal aunt. At the age of eight, he began serving as a young Taoist at the Leizun Hall with his father.
