The Wuxi Kiln Cluster Ruins Museum is located on Dayao Road in the Qingming Bridge Historic District. In front of the museum is a newly built waterside dock with stone railings, offering a simple and refreshing vibe. On both sides of the dock are scenes characteristic of Jiangnan-style residences—small bridges, flowing water, and traditional homes. There are currently 108 ancient kiln cluster ruins along Dayao Road, with over ten relatively well-preserved ones. This area boasts the largest concentration of preserved brick and tile kiln ruins in the Jiangnan region. The ruins museum comprehensively showcases the production, trade, and lifestyle of the kiln workers in Wuxi and even the broader Jiangnan area, making it a representative museum of China’s important brick and tile production origins.

The Wuxi Kiln Cluster Ruins Museum is situated at the confluence of the ancient canal and Bodu Port in Wuxi, once a hub for the production and trade of bricks and tiles, and an important origin of ancient Chinese bricks and tiles. The core area of the museum features architecture in early (Song and Ming) dynastic styles to reflect the flourishing background of the kiln industry. Some original residential buildings have been restored to their historical appearance to minimize modern elements. The surrounding area of the ancient kiln ruins adopts a retro architectural style reminiscent of the peak period of the kiln industry. In contrast, parts of the commercial zone along the river feature more modern architectural styles.

The main exhibition hall of the museum (excluding the kiln site display) is renovated from a two-story building of an old factory. The total exhibition area is about 3,000 square meters, and its exterior design is consistent with the style of the water town residences in the Qingming Bridge Historic District.

The central feature of the first-floor “History of Wuxi Bricks and Tiles” exhibition hall is a large-scale model diorama of the Qingming Bridge Historic District. The ancient kiln cluster ruins on Dayao Road along the ancient canal in Wuxi served as a major production and trade base for bricks and tiles in the Jiangnan region during the Ming and Qing dynasties. From the early Ming Dynasty onward, this area gathered a large number of kiln owners and workers, quickly becoming an important brick and tile trade hub in the Jiangnan region.

The second floor displays imitation ancient bricks and tiles unearthed within China, physical artifacts collected from various locations, as well as models of modern brick-making machinery, reflecting the historical evolution of bricks and tiles in China.
