Mu Gongguan

Mu Gongguan is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Jiangsu Province.

Mu Gongguan is located at No. 7 Xinsheng Road, Chong'an District, Wuxi, and was built in 1932. Mu Bin (1895–1946), a native of Wuxi, served as the Political Director of the Eastern Route Army during the Northern Expedition. From 1929 onward, he held positions such as Alternate Executive Committee Member of the Central Committee of the Kuomintang and Director of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Civil Affairs. In February 1941, he became President of the Wang puppet government. This residence features an "East-meets-West" architectural style and is a garden-style residential building from the 1930s, surrounded by high walls made of plain brick. The structure is shaped like the Chinese character “工” (work), with three bays in the central section, one bay on each wing, and a garden area. During the Japanese puppet regime period, this site was used as a station for the Wang puppet secret service and detained anti-Japanese patriots and innocent civilians, making it one of the war crimes left behind by Japanese invaders in China. In January 1992, it was designated as a municipal-level cultural heritage site by the Wuxi Municipal People's Government. In 2012, it was listed as a provincial-level cultural heritage site in Jiangsu Province.
