The Qin Family Comparative Hall is located at No. 6, 216 Xinsheng Road, Wuxi. It was originally part of the residential compound of the Qin Family’s Bao Yi Tang. Built in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, this open hall faces south, features a flush gable roof, and consists of one main hall flanked by two side wings. It is five bays wide and six bays deep, with interior five-bay beams and single-step corridors both in the front and rear. In front of the hall lies a garden, where a small rockery accented with stones is situated to the south, complemented by a winding pond and small bridge, while granite benches are placed to the north. Although it is part of a residence, the combination of the main hall, side wings, and carefully designed garden elements reflects the characteristics of residential architecture in the Jiangnan water towns during the Ming and Qing periods. After the Taiping Army captured Wuxi in the tenth year of the Xianfeng reign (1860), weapons were manufactured and —— were refined in this hall.
