The Yin Clan Ancestral Hall and Duxing Hall

The Huangxu Yin Clan Ancestral Hall was first built in 1540, rebuilt in 1802, and listed as a cultural heritage site under the protection of Zhenjiang City in 2004. The rebuilt ancestral hall has a history of over 200 years to date. It is reported that during the restoration process of the Yin Clan Ancestral Hall, top-tier experts from leading domestic companies specializing in the preservation and restoration of ancient architecture—experts from Suzhou Xiangshan Ancient Architecture and Gardens—were fully involved in and guided the project. The restored ancestral hall building is entirely constructed of brick and wood, featuring exquisite and well-preserved overhanging eaves, bracket sets, buttressed walls, horizontal beams, and carved lattice windows. The brick, wood, and stone carvings are simple yet magnificent. The exterior, with its white-washed walls, black tiles, upturned eaves, and ornamental ridges, is solemn and elegant. It can be said to have maximally “restored” the charm of the original ancient architecture.

In March 2019, the Yin Clan Ancestral Hall and Duxing Hall were included in the eighth batch of Jiangsu Provincial Cultural Heritage Protection Units.
