Yunlong Mountain Temple Fair is a cultural tourism attraction.

Yunlong Mountain in Xuzhou is a popular tourist destination, dotted with historic sites and blessed with pleasant scenery. On the western slope lies the Dashiyan (Great Buddha Rock), where a fair is held annually on the 29th day of the lunar calendar to celebrate the birthday of Guanyin (the Goddess of Mercy). It is one of the most influential folk events in northern Jiangsu and even the Huaihai Economic Zone.

The Yunlong Mountain Temple Fair is commonly known as the “Yunlong Mountain Fair.” The Guanyin Festival at Dashiyan began during the Qing Dynasty’s Kangxi Emperor’s reign. At that time, Jiang Zhuo, the prefect of Xuzhou, commissioned the carving of a Guanyin statue, attracting many Buddhists to come and worship. Over time, this evolved into the Guanyin Festival, commonly referred to as the Yunlong Mountain Fair by the public. On the 19th day, crowds flood in — offering worshippers, incense burners, child-seekers, vow-fulfillers, as well as fair-goers and kite flyers — reaching up to 100,000 people, choking the mountain paths and packing the surrounding areas. Inside and outside the Dashiyan courtyard, men and women gather in droves, with rows of devout worshippers, often a dozen or more at a time, coming forth in succession to burn incense and pray before the Guanyin statue. The Release Crane Pavilion behind Dashiyan and Xinghua Temple on the eastern side of the mountain also become packed. The fair continues to draw sparse worshippers and vendors through the 22nd and 23rd.

Today’s Yunlong Mountain Fair is richer in cultural elements and entertainment, featuring vibrant song and dance performances, local snacks, and traditional handicrafts, creating a lively atmosphere.

Admission Fee

5 RMB. The viewing platform is 5 RMB, Xinghua Temple is 4 RMB; the mountain cable car is 15 RMB per person, and the downhill sled is 10 RMB per person.
