The Xuzhou Han Culture Scenic Area is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

Since the successful excavation and opening to the public of the outstanding representatives of Western Han material culture in China — the Xuzhou Terracotta Army and the Tomb of the King of Chu at Lion Mountain — they have gained fame both domestically and internationally for embodying the spirit of Han culture: "bold, majestic, grand, and transcendent." They have become the window to “experience the culture of the Western and Eastern Han Dynasties in Xuzhou.” The Xuzhou Han Culture Scenic Area is located in the eastern part of Xuzhou city, boasting beautiful scenery. It is the largest theme park in China with a focus on Han culture, primarily featuring three museums themed around the Tomb of the King of Chu, the Xuzhou Terracotta Army, and Han Dynasty relief stone carvings, as well as attractions such as the Memorial Hall of Princess Jieyou, noble burial tombs, and the cavalry terracotta pits. It is the largest, richest in content, and most deeply imbued with the legacy of the Han Dynasties within the Xuzhou area. Historical and cultural relics blend harmoniously with picturesque landscapes, creating a modern premium tourist destination that highlights both human culture and natural beauty, as well as the coexistence of history and modernity.

The core area mainly represents the “culture of the Western and Eastern Han Dynasties” through three museums — the Tomb of the King of Chu at Lion Mountain, the Xuzhou Terracotta Army, and the Han Culture Exchange Center — along with the Yanggui Mountain Exhibition Pavilion (Queen’s Tomb) and the Underwater Terracotta Army Museum. By further excavating, restoring, and protecting historical resources, it recreates the essence of Han culture. The extended area includes the Han Culture Square, the Civic Leisure Square, the Chess and Tea Garden, the Archaeological Simulation Base, and the Grass Sled Field. Through the construction of uniquely distinctive landscapes, attractions, and supporting facilities, it provides visitors and residents with a wealth of sightseeing routes and leisure and entertainment options.

The landscaping and gardening within the scenic area can also be described as exceptional. With an investment of over 22 million yuan, the area has planted more than 40 types of large trees, including ginkgo, scholar trees, and koelreuteria, totaling 26,000 trees, 28,000 shrubs such as osmanthus and plum blossom, and 130,000 square meters of lawns, creating a layered, colorful, and seasonally changing landscape complex that integrates mountain and garden. The second phase of the scenic area project mainly involves constructing tourism service facilities, including the Princess Jieyou Memorial Park, the Liu Family Ancestral Temple, Bamboo Forest Temple, and antique-style cultural streets. The third phase of the Han Culture Scenic Area project will further explore the connotations of the existing cultural relics within the area, expand their extensions, and enrich their exhibition forms and effects. It will complement the first and second phases, truly establishing the Han Culture Scenic Area as a Han culture protection base and a world-class distinctive garden that integrates historical exhibitions, sightseeing, and leisure entertainment. It will become a golden calling card for Xuzhou and even Jiangsu, “inheriting Han civilization and promoting national spirit.”
