Xuzhou Dongshan Temple

Xuzhou Dongshan Temple is a cultural tourism attraction.

Dongshan Temple, located at the western foot of Zifang Mountain in the eastern part of Xuzhou, was first built in the early years of the Daoguang reign during the Qing Dynasty. Its founder was Master Dingjian, the abbot of Jieyin Nunnery in Xuzhou. In the early Daoguang period, to avoid flooding from the Yellow River, Master Dingjian relocated the temple from the banks of the old Yellow River in Pengcheng to Zifang Mountain and named it Dongshan Temple. The current Dongshan Temple faces west and stands directly opposite Xuzhou Railway Station, with a bronze statue of Zhang Liang standing behind the temple in front of Jiming Pool, alongside a cascading waterfall. The temple complex includes the Mahavira Hall, Three Saints Hall, Ksitigarbha Hall, Heavenly King Hall, Zifang Hall, Bixia Yuanjun Hall, Bell Tower, Drum Tower, Scripture Depository, Dining Hall, Restaurant, and Guest Reception Room. Dongshan Temple currently serves as a nunnery, housing three nuns, with Venerable Hongyin as the abbess.
