Anzhou Tianning Temple

Anzhou Tianning Temple is a cultural tourism attraction.

Anzhou Tianning Temple is located in Anzhou Town, an ancient town in Anxin County, about 75 li (approximately 37.5 kilometers) east of Baoding. Originally built during the Tang Dynasty, the temple is said to have been constructed by the eminent monk Kuiji, also known as the "Three-Cart Monk." Over the centuries, it has undergone multiple restorations. It suffered severe damage during the Cultural Revolution, with most of its buildings repurposed for other uses.

In recent years, with the support of the Baoding Municipal Religious Affairs Bureau and people from all walks of life, along with the efforts of the temple’s abbot and monastic community, restoration and expansion work is currently underway. The halls are being renovated, Buddha statues remolded, and ritual instruments recast, gradually restoring the thousand-year-old temple to its former glory, when its grand architecture reached the clouds and its golden hues shone brilliantly against the sky.
