The Memorial Hall of the Yanling Brigade in Baiyangdian is a patriotism education base.

Located on Baiyangdian, known as the "Pearl of North China" and a 5A-level tourist attraction in China, the Memorial Hall of the Yanling Brigade was recently designated as a third batch provincial-level patriotism education base.

On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the founding of New China, to better leverage the role of patriotism education bases, promote in-depth development of mass patriotism education activities, inspire the patriotic enthusiasm of the broad cadre and masses in Hebei, foster and cultivate national spirit, guide the people of the whole province to strengthen confidence and unite strength, and strive to achieve scientific development and build a prosperous and strong province, the Hebei Provincial Committee and Government have decided to designate 27 new provincial-level patriotism education bases. Among them, the Memorial Hall of the Yanling Brigade in Baiyangdian, Baoding City, has been included.

The Yanling Brigade Memorial Hall is located in the Baiyangdian Cultural Park at the heart of Baiyangdian, covering a construction area of 2,566 square meters. The name of the hall was inscribed personally by General Lü Zhengcao, a founding marshal who once led troops in battles across central Hebei, at the age of 99. The hall is divided into 18 theme-based exhibition rooms, including the Preface, the Outbreak of the Nationwide War of Resistance and the Establishment of the Central Hebei Anti-Japanese Base Area, Atrocities Committed by Japanese Invaders in Baiyangdian, the Yanling Brigade and Waterborne Guerrilla Warfare, Assaulting Watchtowers and Eliminating Strongholds, Punishing Traitors to Protect the People, Celebrating Victory in the War of Resistance, and Carrying Forward Revolutionary Traditions and the Yanling Spirit. Through a wealth of detailed, abundant, and precious historical photos, charts, documents, relics, vivid sculptures, as well as modern artistic techniques such as lighting, sound, 3D animation, and large-screen projections, it vividly recreates the famous and fearless Yanling Brigade’s elusive, brave, and resourceful battles against the Japanese invaders, offering a fresh perspective on this legendary chapter of wartime history. Centered around the “red” theme (the Yanling Brigade Memorial Hall), and integrating other resources to combine red with blue (the blue sky and clear, rippling waters), red with green (world-famous lotus gardens and lotus ponds, representing natural ecology), red with ancient (Kangxi’s Water Enclosure Hunting Palace and Pei’en Temple), and red with folklore (the folk culture of Gazi Village), it creates an organic, complementary, and comprehensive high-quality model work. With layered appeal and mutual enhancement, it exerts greater attraction than any single red tourism site.

Due to its standardized construction, rich exhibits, and enthusiastic visitor response, the Memorial Hall of the Yanling Brigade in Baiyangdian was rated as one of China’s Top Ten Red Tourism Attractions in evaluation activities organized by China Red Net, the Party Building magazine of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, and the Red Flag Publishing House. Yuan Dabin, Chairman of the Baiyangdian Cultural Park, was honored as one of China’s Top Ten Red Tourism Figures.
