The poem about the Grand Canal by Hai Qing, which sings praises of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, is a perfect portrayal of the Ancient Canal Scenic Belt in Suqian Urban Area. The Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, as world-renowned as the Great Wall, stretches 1,794 kilometers in total. It passes through Xuzhou City, enters Suqian City from north to south, runs through the urban area of Suqian, then turns from the northwest to the southeast, resembling a drawn bow as it winds its way along. Along the “back” of this “bow” lies a beautiful scenic line — the Ancient Canal Scenic Belt in Suqian Urban Area.

The Ancient Canal Urban Scenic Belt is located slightly east of the city center of Suqian, forming an inverted

"L" shape that encircles the downtown area. It stretches from Sanzha Park in the north to Canal No. 3 Bridge in the south, with a total length of approximately 8 kilometers. The width of the scenic belt section between the east and west sides of the canal ranges from 200 to 300 meters (with some sections as narrow as 30 meters), covering a total area of 252.14 hectares. It is an important part of Suqian’s tourism landscape system. To its north, it connects via waterways to the Luoma Lake Tourist Resort and the Liutang River Ecological Protection Zone; in the middle, it links with the commercial service axis, as well as Malingshi Night Market, Malingshi Residential Area, Malingshi Park, the Memorial Tower of the Suibei Campaign, the Jile Monastery, and the Ancient Yellow River Scenic Belt; to the south, it neighbors attractions such as the Tomb of Yang Sihong, Zhenru

Chan Temple, and Xiangwang’s Hometown Park. Its superior location and environment make the scenic belt one of the few outstanding riverside urban landscapes along the entire Grand Canal.
