The Luoma Lake Zhangshan Water Conservancy Scenic Area is a national water conservancy scenic area.

The Luoma Lake Scenic Area is located in the northern part of Suqian’s central urban area, adjacent to the western shore of Luoma Lake. The area boasts beautiful lakescapes, gently sloping shores, clear waters, excellent ecology, and profound historical and cultural heritage, making it uniquely suited for the development of a tourism resort.

The scenic area covers a total area of 9.4 square kilometers and contains a variety of high-quality natural tourism resources suitable for vacation use, including forests, lakes, and hot springs, as well as cultural and historical sites such as the Qingdun Relics, the Su Bei Battle Site, and the Bodhi Temple.

The scenic area also offers a range of tourism and supporting facilities, including a horseback riding club, an international yacht club, the Xiyou Valley Animation Kingdom, the Lanbo Bay Commercial Street, the Sino-German Resort, China Water City, Lakeside Park, Happy Island, Romantic Garden, the Venice Holiday Hotel, the Starry International Hotel, and the Convention Center.

The Suqian Luoma Lake Forest Park consists of five zones: the Romantic Garden (66 hectares), the Hamburg Sino-German Resort (12 hectares), China Water City (23 hectares), the Garden Expo Park (46 hectares), and the Lakeside Bathing Beach, covering a total area of 168 hectares.

Luoma Lake Forest Park is under the jurisdiction of Suqian’s Lakeside New Town. In 2010, Suqian’s regional GDP reached 173.36 billion yuan, comprising 44.48 billion yuan from the primary industry, 80.01 billion yuan from the secondary industry, and 48.87 billion yuan from the tertiary industry. The average annual wage was 27,670 yuan, and the per capita net income of farmers was 10,235 yuan. Since its establishment in 2006, the Lakeside New Town has achieved coordinated development in agriculture and industry. In recent years, it has focused on rapid tourism growth, leading to healthy and fast socio-economic development. From 2007 to 2010, the regional GDP showed rapid growth, demonstrating strong economic strength. Annual budgeted agricultural support funds were 20 million yuan in 2007, 29 million yuan in 2008, 30.15 million yuan in 2009, and 45.16 million yuan in 2010, showing a year-on-year increase, reflecting the Lakeside New Town Management Committee’s high regard for agricultural and forestry production. The town’s solid economic foundation provides reliable conditions for supporting agriculture and forestry.

Artificial Ecological Restoration Forest System: Dominated by drought-resistant willows and poplars, with appropriate thinning and addition of the following tree and shrub species:

Wildlife Resources in the Park

Mammals include hedgehogs, badgers, civets, rabbits, and weasels; snakes include rat snakes, red racer snakes, patterned snakes, and pit vipers; birds include ring-necked pheasants, ducks (wild), magpies, azure-winged magpies, owls, woodpeckers, quails, orioles, doves, cuckoos, finches, larks, great tits, thrushes, white-eyes, hoopoes, shrikes, egrets, and herons, totaling over 100 species.

In addition to its own tea house and other reception areas, the park is also adjacent to the five-star Starry International Hotel and the Venice Hotel.

The Starry International Hotel is located in the central business district of Suqian’s Lakeside New Town. It lies east of Mount Santai and west of Luoma Lake, adjacent to the 7th Jiangsu Provincial Garden Expo Park. Covering an area of about 65,000 square meters with a total construction area of 112,000 square meters, the 28-story, 99.9-meter-high building is a landmark of Suqian. It is 10 kilometers from the Suqian highway exit and 60 kilometers from Xuzhou Guanyin Airport, offering convenient transportation.
