The Xiaodian Qingdun Site is a Major Historical and Cultural Site Protected at the National Level.

Era: Western Zhou to Han

The Xiaodian Qingdun Site is located east of Shencaizhuang in Xiaodian Town, Suyu District, Suqian City, Jiangsu Province. Covering an area of 90,000 square meters, this site dates back to the Western Han to Western Zhou periods. In May 2013, it was designated as part of the seventh batch of Major Historical and Cultural Sites Protected at the National Level by the State Council. The site is 300 meters long from east to west and 300 meters wide from north to south, covering a total area of 90,000 square meters. A continuous array of pottery artifacts has been unearthed, including jars, dou (food vessels), gui (food vessels), cups, bottles, plates, li (tripod cooking vessels), and ding (tripod cauldrons), among others. Some were used for cooking, while others served as wine vessels or storage containers. Additionally, bronze items such as swords, ge (dagger-axes), and arrowheads have also been excavated.

Xiaodian Town: A township under the jurisdiction of Suyu County. In 1957, Xiaodian Township was formed by merging several townships including Xiaodian, Guangqian, Zhangshan, Chouxu, and Wanggou. It was reorganized as Xiaodian Commune in 1958, and later reinstated as Xiaodian Township. Located in the northern part of the city, it is 13 kilometers from Sucheng. The township covers an area of 69 square kilometers and has a population of 31,000. The Sucheng-Xinshu Highway passes through the area. It administers 15 village committees: Xinzhan, Hubin, Wuguo, Zangwei, Zhouzhuang, Xiaoying, Fengshan, Zhangshan, Liuwei, Guangqian, Songying, Hudong, Sanju, Qingdun, and Xiaodian. The main industry is agriculture, with rice and wheat as the primary crops. Industry is dominated by the production of yellow and white sand, as well as brick and tile manufacturing.
