Liutang River Water Conservancy Scenic Area

The Liutang River Water Conservancy Scenic Area is a national water conservancy scenic area.

The Liutang River Water Conservancy Scenic Area is located in Sucheng District, Suqian City. It is built around water conservancy projects such as the Liutang River channel, the Liutang River Sluice, and the Jiantou Pumping Station. The scenic area covers an area of 4.96 square kilometers, including 0.64 square kilometers of water surface, and is classified as an urban river-lake type water conservancy scenic area.

The Liutang River is adjacent to the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, with its upstream and downstream sections connected to Luoma Lake and Hongze Lake. The scenic area management has comprehensively advanced key ecological environment management projects for the Liutang River. By implementing pollution interception and diversion projects, improving the separate stormwater and sewage systems, constructing pump station infrastructure, dredging the river channel, and planting trees and grass along both banks, the water ecological quality and landscape effect have been greatly enhanced. The scenic area now features attractions such as the Liutang River Scenic Belt, Three Islands Park, and the country’s first water conservancy heritage park.
