Wangdun Site

The Wangdun Site is a cultural heritage site protected at the municipal level in Suqian City.

The Wangdun Site is located in Gengchen Village, Lailong Town, and is designated as a county-level cultural heritage site. The mound stands 2.5 meters high, stretches 200 meters from east to west and 150 meters from north to south, covering an area of approximately 30,000 square meters. The lower layer consists of a 1-meter-thick Dawenkou cultural stratum, concentrated in the southern part of the mound, where Neolithic tombs have been discovered. Artifacts unearthed include broken pottery vessels such as tripod cauldrons made of coarse sandy clay, gray pottery twin-spout pots, back-shaped pots, and bag-footed ? vessels. The upper layer is composed of yellowish-gray soil containing shards of red and gray pottery from the Shang period, both coarse sandy and fine clay. The decorative patterns include string patterns, checkered designs, and thundercloud motifs. Identifiable vessel forms include jars, tripods, basins, and dou (bean-shaped vessels).

Lailong Town: A town under the jurisdiction of Suyu County. It was established as Lailong District in 1942, reorganized as a people's commune in 1958, changed to a township in 1983, and upgraded to a town in 1987. Located in the northeastern part of the county, it is 20 kilometers from the county seat. Covering an area of 75 square kilometers, it has a population of 36,000. The town administers 19 village committees: Lailong, Zhangdazhuang, Shuizhuang, Minzhu, Yuhuang, Shizhuang, Kuangzhuang, Ludun, Gezhuang, Wangzhuang, Taiping, Qiuzhuang, Longxi, Gaowei, Lingyuan, Zuozhuang, Gengchen, Changan, and Shuangjiang.
