Huguo Yongning Chan Temple

Huguo Yongning Chan Temple is a national AAA-level tourist attraction and a cultural tourism site.

As a national AAA-level tourist attraction, it was originally built in the sixth year of the Wude era of the Tang Dynasty (623 AD), known as the "Foremost Temple in Eastern Huai and a Renowned Monastery North of the Yangtze," and was one of the thirty-six famous temples at the time. Destroyed in 1938 during wartime, it was restored in 1993. The temple has historically been home to many eminent monks, such as Master Xuesong, Master Mingshan, and Master Chanyuan, a founding figure of Buddhism in Yancheng, all of whom once served as abbots. The current abbot is Master Renfeng. The scenic area now features facilities such as the mountain gate, the Hall of Heavenly Kings, bell and drum towers, the Mahavira Hall, the chanting hall, and the scripture depository. In 2011, it was successfully designated as a national AAA-level tourist attraction.
