Yancheng Science and Technology Museum

Yancheng Science and Technology Museum is a science education base.

A national AAA-level tourist attraction, it is one of the distinctive comprehensive science and technology museums among those in prefecture-level cities in China. Located southeast of Yancheng’s administrative center, it covers a total area of 5 hectares with a construction area of nearly 28,000 square meters. The museum building has four floors above ground, and there is a sunken plaza of approximately 220 square meters on the north side, connecting to the entrance and exit of the basement. The museum is divided into six functional areas: permanent exhibition area, temporary exhibition area, training area, standby exhibition area, youth activity center, and film and video area. Among them, the permanent exhibition area is located on the second and third floors of the main building, with a total construction area of 8,210 square meters. It serves as the basic functional area of the museum and the main display space for scientific exhibits. It reflects the regional characteristics and economic features of Yancheng, featuring three thematic exhibition areas—“Science and Discovery,” “Technology and Innovation,” and “Science and Society”—as well as two special thematic exhibition areas—“Children’s Science and Technology Park” and “Wetlands and Oceans.” In 2009, the museum was inaugurated during the “5•18” Sea Salt Culture Festival as a landmark building symbolizing the achievements of building an innovative city and implementing the strategy of revitalizing the city through science and education. In December 2010, the museum was successfully rated as a national AAA-level tourist attraction.
