Changzhou Huagu Qiyuan Scenic Area

Changzhou Huagu Qiyuan Scenic Area is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

Huagu Qiyuan is located in Xuebu Town, Jintan District, Changzhou City, Jiangsu Province, at the foot of the national 5A-level scenic spot Maoshan in Jintan District, Changzhou, Jiangsu. It sits opposite the Maoshan toll station on the S38 Changhe Expressway. It is an original "flower"-themed tourism destination in East China. Invested and built by Jiangsu Huagu Qiyuan Tourism Development Co., Ltd., it covers a total area of over 5,000 acres, with a total investment of more than 1 billion RMB. Huagu Qiyuan will become a comprehensive international "flower"-themed leisure tourism resort integrating sightseeing, leisure vacation, creative culture, health and wellness, and other tourism formats, featuring first-class services and facilities, as well as high ornamental and experiential value.

Covering a total area of 5,000 acres, Huagu Qiyuan leverages its superior natural landscape and draws on the essence of top global art garden designs to meticulously create ten distinctive premium gardens—including the Flower Goddess Garden, French Garden, Dutch Garden, Rose Garden, Jasmine Garden, Kitchen Garden, Children’s Garden, and Music Garden—as well as two vast native flower seas. Complemented by interactive attractions such as a charming commercial street, starry sky campsite, family-friendly amusement park, ecological agriculture zone, experience farm, and art exhibition center, it forms a unique "flower"-themed tourism and leisure resort town in the Shanghai-Nanjing-Hangzhou region.

The first phase of Huagu Qiyuan covers 1,600 acres and is set to open in March 2017. The second phase, spanning approximately 2,000 acres, will include garden clusters designed by world-renowned horticultural designers, luxury hotel clusters, and hot spring resorts. Upon completion, it will become the premier "flower"-themed international leisure tourism destination in China.

Flower Goddess Garden

Huagu Qiyuan shares an inseparable and profound connection with Wei Furen (also known as "Nanyue Furen" or "Zixu Yuanjun"), the founder of the Shangqing sect of Taoism on Maoshan. Legend has it that Wei Furen’s disciple, Huagu, excelled in flower cultivation and was beloved by flower farmers who primarily grew flowers. She was enlightened and became a goddess on the foot of Maoshan, taking on the role of the deity in charge of all flowers. The "Flower Goddess Garden" has been reconstructed at the legendary site of her enlightenment. The overall garden design integrates humanity and nature, culture and religion, ingeniously embedding flower altars within the natural landscape, perfectly showcasing the essence of land art that pursues natural charm. Here, visitors can not only admire the ever-changing beauty of the Flower Goddess Garden throughout the seasons but also experience a new, healthy way of vacationing. The garden is meticulously crafted as a high-quality, diversified wellness destination centered on health preservation, integrating leisure, entertainment, socializing, and business, allowing tourists to relax, enjoy freedom, and release stress during their visit.

Entrance Garden

The main entrance area of Huagu Qiyuan. In its landscape design, the nearly eight-meter elevation difference is cleverly utilized to create an engaging nine-curve floral path. Layered greenery and flowers form a sea of blossoms to welcome visitors at the entrance. Under the boundless blue sky, a meandering scenic river surrounds classical and elegant European-style architecture, painting a breathtakingly romantic and picturesque scene.

Additionally, a lakeside commercial street will be developed at the entrance. Huagu Qiyuan breaks away from the traditional single layout of imitation ancient buildings found in domestic scenic areas by adopting European-style architecture as the main feature of the commercial street, creating a relaxed and leisurely environment. The lakeside side harmonizes with streams and premium floral displays, giving the entire commercial street a romantic and warm ambiance.

Dutch Garden

The overall landscape design features tall trees, winding paths, lush lawns, tranquil ponds, colorful tulips, and various bulb flower varieties, transforming the entire garden into a sea of flowers. As the breeze blows, vibrant waves of color ripple through the flowers, while the subtle and intoxicating fragrance of tulips fills the air. This enchanting and magnificent scenery makes one feel as if they are in the poetic and picturesque floral world of Holland, utterly captivated and yearning to bask in the happiness of being surrounded by a sea of blooms. In the scenic Dutch Garden, visitors can not only enjoy this visual feast but also appreciate the meticulous craftsmanship of floral works in a world of colorful splendor.

Jasmine Garden

Also known as the Fragrance Garden, the Jasmine Garden plants fragrant flowers with a Jiangnan essence—such as jasmine, white camellia, and gardenia—in tea field-like arrangements. The elegant floral aromas, paired with the flowing curves of the landscape, create the ultimate in refined Jiangnan-style jasmine gardens. Surrounded by towering ancient trees and adorned with tender jasmine branches that gracefully intertwine, it forms a serene and harmonious natural scene. Here, gazing at the sea of jasmine blossoms, the noise and distractions of the outside world fade away, leaving one unperturbed by fame or disgrace, carefree and at peace. French Garden

The design team of Huagu Qiyuan conducted in-depth research and reflection on traditional and modern landscapes of both China and France. Utilizing design concepts such as humanism, ecology, site, space, and time, they created a uniquely distinctive French Garden at Huagu Qiyuan.

The entire garden is designed with a clear, orderly, and concise geometric grid structure that emphasizes hierarchy, simplicity, elegance, and dignity. A central main axis controls the overall layout, supplemented by secondary vertical axes and strategically interspersed horizontal axes. Axes and pathways extend into the woodland, incorporating it into the geometric grid. At the intersections of axes and pathways, fountains, statues, and garden ornaments are arranged as decorations. This not only highlights the geometric nature of the overall layout but also creates a rich sense of rhythm, resulting in a varied landscape effect. Additionally, an observation deck will be constructed to showcase the full panorama of the French Garden, offering visitors a unique macroscopic visual experience.

Kitchen Garden

A healing garden centered around the concept of "refinement, ingenuity, and wonder," the Kitchen Garden showcases the essence of its landscape. This uniquely designed kitchen garden consists of a farm, a garden, and a kitchen. The entrance to the Kitchen Garden is a winding vegetable path with uneven, colorful, and fragrant raised beds. The kitchen within the garden not only retains the essentials of daily life but also incorporates coffee, music, poetry, desserts, and love. Under the lazy sunlight, one can leisurely sit in the garden, surrounded by the primal beauty of fields, lotus ponds, bamboo groves, and small woods, while admiring the layered planting of vegetables and flowers arranged by color, texture, and size, all while savoring continuously prepared coffee and desserts from the kitchen.

It creates a free and open childhood garden where kids can roll and play in the mud, embrace nature up close, smell various floral scents, climb and run to release energy, and connect with the earth with their young bodies, bathed in rain, wind, and sunshine.
