Xianggu Village Miaoxi Tumulus Tomb Cluster

The Xianggu Village Miaoxi Tumulus Tomb Cluster is located to the north of the Xianggu Village Committee in Xuebu Town. Tumulus tombs were the most distinctive form of burial in the Jiangnan region during the Shang and Zhou dynasties, primarily distributed in southern Jiangsu, southern Anhui, Zhejiang, Shanghai, and other areas along the lower reaches of the Yangtze River. This type of tomb utilized hills in the hilly regions or elevated areas on plains, placing the deceased and funerary objects on the ground before piling up mound-shaped earthen tumuli. The funerary objects found in these tumulus tombs mainly include jars, pots, urns, tripods, bowls, cups, and covers. On May 4, 2010, the Jintan Municipal People's Government designated it as part of the third batch of cultural heritage protection units.

On December 19, 2011, the Jiangsu Provincial People's Government announced it as part of the seventh batch of provincial-level cultural heritage protection units.

Xianggu Village: Nestled at the foot of Maoshan, a national 4A-level scenic area, Xianggu Village spans an area of 4.35 square kilometers with a total population of 1,682. True to its name, the village boasts lush green mountains, clear waters, a beautiful environment, pleasant scenery, and abundant tourism resources. It has a long-standing Taoist cultural heritage, including ancient relics such as a three-gate, five-temple complex.

Over ten farming households in the village have established their own agritainment businesses. Local specialties such as Xianggu salted pig trotters, Maoshan old goose, stewed eggs, wild mushrooms, and rock moss are famous within a hundred-mile radius, forming a unique Xianggu cuisine with distinct rural flavors.
