The former site of the headquarters of the First Detachment of the New Fourth Army in Songxi is a cultural relic protection unit of Jiangsu Province.

The former site of the headquarters of the First Detachment of the New Fourth Army in Songxi is located in Songxiangli Village, Zhuke Town. It is a traditional two-courtyard residential house. This site served as an important link for the First Detachment of the New Fourth Army, led by Chen Yi, following the Luzhen Bridge Meeting in Liyang, and played a pivotal role in the revolutionary base in southern Jiangsu. It is a significant revolutionary relic.

In the summer of 1938, under the directives of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Mao Zedong, the vanguard detachment and the first and second detachments of the New Fourth Army, led by Chen Yi, Su Yu, Fu Qiutao, and Zhang Dingcheng, successively advanced eastward from southern Anhui into the enemy-occupied areas of southern Jiangsu to carry out anti-Japanese guerrilla warfare and establish anti-Japanese bases. In the late autumn of the same year, the headquarters of the First Detachment of the New Fourth Army moved south from the Maoshan area to Songxiang, and was later temporarily relocated to Shuixi, Tangyin, and Wangzhu. Songxiang thus became the location of the leadership and command headquarters of the First Detachment of the New Fourth Army.

In 2019, the former site of the headquarters of the First Detachment of the New Fourth Army in Songxi was included in the eighth batch of cultural relic protection units of Jiangsu Province.
