The Former Residence of Yun Hongyi was built during the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty. It faces south and has a convex layout, consisting of three sections—east, central, and west—covering an area of approximately 7,000 square meters. It is one of the larger residential compounds in the Qingguo Lane historic district.

The architectural complex has a slightly convex floor plan and is said to have once had 108 rooms. Constructed with brick and wood, all the buildings feature flush gable roofs and are single-story structures, divided into eastern, central, and western parts, with internal passageways and corridors separating the sections. The eastern wing is situated behind the building of Guangfu Yishu (a former educational facility), and consists of three courtyards in total.

On December 19, 2011, the People's Government of Jiangsu Province designated it as part of the seventh batch of Provincial Cultural Heritage Protection Units.
