The Qintong Boat Racing Festival is held on the second day of the Qingming Festival every year in Qintong Town, Jiangyan City. The boats are categorized into pole boats, rowing boats, flower boats, tribute boats, and “turning-wife boats,” among others. With different types, events, styles, and costumes, each has its own distinctive charm. During the event, thousands of boats race across the water in a spectacular scene. After the boat races, there are also traditional folk activities such as theatrical performances, banquets, and the ceremonial presenting of the leading pole. Year after year, locals continue this custom, staging joyful festivities that fill the water town with a festive atmosphere.
