Jiangyan People's Park

A comprehensive urban park serving as a leisure and entertainment venue for residents. Located in the southeastern part of the city at the junction of Gutian Road and Licai Road, it borders the Tongyang Canal to the west and the Xijianghuang River to the south, enjoying a uniquely strategic location and superior natural conditions. The park covers an area of 192.21 acres. It was first established in 1999 and was basically completed and opened to the public on October 1, 2000.

Seven Functional Zones:

(1) Main Entrance Plaza Area: Situated at a major urban road intersection with heavy foot traffic, the entrance is set back slightly to form a plaza that serves as the starting point of the park’s main axis. The landscape design of the plaza enhances the directional guidance of the park entrance, making it the first scenic highlight for visitors upon entering.

(2) Office and Management Area: This zone utilizes the existing office building of the Landscape Management Office and extends westward along Gutian Road. It remains visually connected to the broader park environment while maintaining a sense of separation, forming a relatively independent administrative space.

(3) Senior Citizens' Activity Area (Gao Ershi Memorial Hall): Designed in the style of a traditional Jiangnan garden, this area is enclosed by buildings and open corridors, offering flexible and natural spaces that include rooms for music, chess, calligraphy, painting, and a tea room—providing seniors with meaningful activities and enjoyment. It connects to the old city center via a secondary entrance on the north side.

(4) Children and Youth Recreation Area: This area features a rich variety of recreational facilities for children and young people, with strong emphasis on safety and developmental value. Following market-oriented principles in landscape architecture, it attracts diverse investment to promote healthy and sustainable development of the recreation zone.

(5) Water Activity Area: Located in the central part of the park and covering approximately 12,000 square meters, this area features ornamental lawns, flower-studded lawns, and activity lawns along the shoreline, integrated organically with shrubbery. Various scenic areas around the lake are interconnected by winding bridges and a "Lovers' Island," creating a simple, bright, and modern ambiance.

(6) Bonsai Garden Area: Adjacent to the park’s eastern secondary entrance, this area showcases a collection of rare flowers and plants, highlighting the charm of Chinese bonsai art. It also serves as a production site for certain bonsai and potted plants. The layout is flexible and smooth, offering both recreational and viewing functions.

(7) Tranquil Walking Area: Situated in the southern part of the park along the Xijianghuang River, this area is designed to be a peaceful walking and leisure zone through terrain modification and the strategic planting of greenery. The zone includes a man-made “hill” with undulating terrain, featuring a “Twin Pavilion” at its summit offering panoramic views of the park, as well as meandering pebble paths under the woods. This area marks the endpoint of the park’s main axis and is also its highest point. The park currently has 107,000 square meters of green space, with a greening coverage rate of 83.6%. Jiangyan People's Park receives over 90,000 visitors annually.
