Qujiang Tower

Qujiang Tower is located at No. 219 South Street in Jiangyan City. It earned its name from its location at the bend of the ancient Salt Transport River. In the summer and autumn of 1940, the New Fourth Army advanced eastward to resist the Japanese invasion. In September, the New Fourth Army’s Northern Jiangsu Command set up its headquarters at Qujiang Tower, with Commander-in-Chief Chen Yi staying on the upper floor. From there, he strategized and won the political battle before our forces engaged in the decisive fight at Huangqiao, ultimately leading to victory in the “Battle of Huangqiao.” Qujiang Tower is a key attraction on Taizhou’s premium red tourism route.
