The former residence of Han Qiuyan is a cultural tourism attraction.

The former residence of Han Qiuyan is located at the eastern end of Zhuxiang in Huangqiao Town and is a building from the late Qing Dynasty.

Han Qiuyan, also known as Han Shiyuan, was born in 1898 and passed away in 2001. He was honored as a "centenarian." Han Qiuyan was a senior engineer, a renowned painter and calligrapher, and one of the founders of Huangqiao Middle School. He specialized in aeronautical mechanics in Italy and was commissioned by the government to inspect aircraft ordered by China. After completing his studies and returning to China, he served as a professor at institutions such as Central University, Jiangnan University, Northwest University, and Suzhou Institute of Technology. In his later years, he ventured into the arts, achieving proficiency in poetry, calligraphy, painting, and seal carving. He was a member of the Jiangsu Branch of the Artists Association, an artist at the Suzhou Traditional Chinese Painting Academy, and the president of the Suzhou Canglang Poetry Society.

The former residence originally had 11 rooms, arranged in three courtyards, covering a land area of 418 square meters and a construction area of 211.46 square meters. Currently, three rooms remain, which were donated by Han Qiuyan in 1989 for the construction of the Huangqiao Library. These rooms are of brick-and-wood structure, with eaves 3 meters high, a depth of 6.2 meters, and an area of 76.26 square meters. The front courtyard spans 83.64 square meters and is paved with blue bricks. It is now a municipal-level cultural relics protection unit.

Han Qiuyan (1889–2001), also known as Shi Yuan, was a native of Zhuxiang Street. He graduated from Beijing Industrial Specialized School in 1923. In 1924, together with He Zhuofu, Yan Zeshao, He Jisheng, Ding Tingmei, and Ding Tingbiao, he co-founded the "Private Huangqiao Middle School," where Han served as principal. In 1925, after leading students to welcome the Northern Expeditionary Army and fearing disaster during the passage of allied forces, he fled to Nanjing. Through a friend’s introduction, he worked as head of the Secretariat Department in Nanjing, and later as head of the Accounting Department in the Finance Bureau. During this time, he studied traditional Chinese painting as a hobby. Huangqiao Development Zone (Huangqiao Town): Huangqiao, situated on the north bank of the Yangtze River, is the largest town in central and northern Jiangsu. The town covers an area of 72.4 square kilometers, with a total population of 100,000, of which the built-up area spans 6.5 square kilometers and has a population of 63,000. Historically, Huangqiao has been known as a water transportation hub “connecting the Huai and Japanese tributaries to the north and linking to the Yangtze tides to the south.” Provincial Highway 334, the Ruhuang Line, and the Jiangba Line intersect within the town. The Ningjingyan and Ning Tong expressways pass close to Huangqiao, and the Xinyi–Changxing Railway has a passenger and freight marshalling station in Huangqiao.
