Fuhui Temple, originally built in 1026 during the fourth year of the Tian Sheng reign of Emperor Renzong of the Northern Song Dynasty, features five courtyards with red walls and green tiles, standing majestically and solemnly. The temple complex includes the Heavenly King Hall, Guanyin Hall, Arhat Hall, and Scripture Depository, all designed in a unique architectural style that blends seamlessly as a whole. In particular, the Mahavira Hall is grand and imposing, exuding extraordinary magnificence. Since its founding, Fuhui Temple has enjoyed flourishing Buddhist activities with ceaseless incense offerings, earning the reputation as the “No.1 Ancient Temple in Northern Jiangsu.” During the Anti-Japanese War, Comrade Wu Yunduo, hailed as the “Chinese Paul,” set up a gun manufacturing facility for the New Fourth Army in Northern Jiangsu within the temple grounds. In 1967, during the Cultural Revolution, Fuhui Temple was destroyed. In 2001, with approval from the Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government, fundraising efforts were initiated to restore the temple, and generous donations poured in from people across all walks of life. After more than a year of intensive construction at a cost of over 6 million yuan, a brand-new Fuhui Temple was consecrated on the eighth day of the twelfth lunar month in 2001. The restored temple preserves the essence of the original structure while incorporating modern elements. Its grand halls are majestic and resplendent in gold, its Buddha statues vividly lifelike. Today, the temple resonates with the constant tolling of bells and welcomes a continuous stream of worshippers.

Huangqiao Development Zone (Huangqiao Town): Huangqiao, located on the northern bank of the Yangtze River, is the largest town in Central and Northern Jiangsu. The town covers an area of 72.4 square kilometers, with a total population of 100,000, including a built-up area of 6.5 square kilometers inhabited by 63,000 people. Historically, Huangqiao has been known as a vital water transport hub, “connecting the Huai and Japanese waters in the north and linking to the river tides in the south.” Provincial Road 334, the Ru-Huang Line, and the Jiang-Ba Line intersect within the town, while the Ningjing-Yan and Ning-Tong expressways run close by. The Xinyi-Changxing Railway has a passenger and freight marshalling station in Huangqiao.
